1-1 Studio Sessions
Somatic Movement helps you address muscular imbalance, pain and tension. Your brain and nervous system control every muscle and joint in your body. By re-educating and rebooting this brain to muscle communication you will increase your awareness (proprioception) and therefore increase your mobility and performance in areas you have previously found difficult to reach.
We don’t just treat the site of the pain, we work on re-centring and re-balancing the whole of your body from the soles of your feet to the top of your skull, by systematically mobilising each joint and structure throughout your body.
This increased neuromuscular control and a new found functional awareness allows you to recover faster from injury and also helps prevent injury in the future.
The Results
Kevin has always been very fit and active, he works out regularly and is a keen runner. Kevin was curious to see how Somatic Movement would improve his running and to see if he could release tension and tightness from his hamstrings and calves which had previously been injured and also prevent further injury.
Week 1 shows how Kevin’s upper body is shifted forwards putting tension through the back of his body, his calves, hamstrings and glutes.
Week 6 clearly shows how Kevin’s body has restructured, his weight is evenly balanced over his centre of support (his feet) meaning the muscles in the backs of his legs and glutes can finally release the tension they were holding and his joints have an improved range of motion.
This has changed the way I move, stand and my functional movement. Physical training has been part of my life since I can remember. I have had all manner of instruction and training, most of this has not had the Somatic education message delivered. Understanding the somatic aspect of movement has greatly improved the way I think about my training. A great course for Athletes/Runners, it will definitely help improve running function, open up joint motion and prevent injuries.”

Your first set of 1-1 Somatic Movement sessions will take place over a 6 week period, this includes 1 x
45 minute instructor led session per week, in our gym based studio. It also includes an initial consultation where you will undergo a postural assessment and give a brief physical history to help identify any habitual movement patterns or muscular imbalances which might be affecting your body. With each session you will receive a 15-20 minute exercise plan to be carried out at home, on your own, this plan will progress each week and will be demonstrated and taught during your weekly session. During your sessions you will learn how to practice Somatic Movement, how it works and why it works.
45 minute instructor led session per week, in our gym based studio.
